There is an educational dimension to many of the events mentioned in previous sections most notably Future Bandon, Grandmothers Day, Slow Food Apple Trees for Schools Scheme and Baking Competitions

In addition Martin Carey Master Butcher leads the Job Incubator who priority is to focus on enabling skill development that previously would have entailed “apprenticeships” e.g. butchering

Bandon Grammar School Transition year are currently working on a town model showing how Bandon lived off the land.

Future Bandon have a group working on identifying commercial projects that have synergy with the widespread food production of the area e.g. R&D facilities.

Finally Bandon is creating a niche for itself for merging “local real food” and “wellness/ functional” food with workshops and classes e.g. Urru & Lucy Hyland Nutritionalist Nutritional Workshop series in conjunction with The Opinion Magazine. E.g. Fionn Uisce Centre, Allison Kingston Wellness Open Day April 2014.
